Greg Yoder

I'm Greg Yoder and I'm the Anchor and Executive Director of Mission Network News, a service of Cornerstone University in Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA. I've been a full time radio journalist since 1988 and with MNN since 1995. I love what I do. I also love Christian radio and the way it's used to lead people to Christ. My desire is to see that doesn't change.

You can e-mail me privately at gyoder@mnnonline.org

Hey just found your website, looking for more programing for our new online radio station. Good reading.
Check out our programing when you get a chance. http://www.lighthouse21.com/listen.htm
We’re still working out the kinks and hope to be up live by Nov. 1.
We’re trying to get away from the “Christian” label by playing some music that you wouldn’t normally hear on “Christian” stations, unless a “Christian” artist did a cover of it.
We’re mixing According to John, Newsboys, dcTalk, POD, Kutless, with U2, Coldplay, Lifehouse, Collective Soul, Kanye West etc.
When picking music, we’re looking at the quality of the music and “is it true? is it worship?”
Jesus said “I am the way the TRUTH and the life.” So we figure, if it’s true and honest its got to be of God.
Even if it’s not the happy go lucky music you might here on your typical “Christian” station.

Hello Greg: I have a specific question. I went online to find its answer and you were the first person I found. There used to be a Christian radio show that ran on Christian stations until, I would say the early to mid 90’s. It was hosted by a friendly grandpa type, and he would tell stories. I think it started with a train whistle and it had folksy feel, probably stories about some main characters, youngster perhaps, maybe in a small town. I believe I remember the show went off the air when the host passed away. I’d love to know who that was and what the show was called. I’ve never heard any reruns of this show since it stopped airing. Any ideas what I’m thinking of? jmsatown@rcn.com

Hi Greg, My husband and I want to know how Christian music is picked for airplay on Christian radio. He hates Christian radio because he says its boring. He likes to listen to R&B and soul, I like rock n roll and alternative. It seems like the same artists are played into the ground and they all sound the same. Why is Christian radio so boring?
