Puente:

I never said they weren't good characteristics for a presidential candidate. But, if you're suggesting that those things are the only things that qualify him to be president, you're hanging your hat on the wrong hook. We're basically hiring someone to run a multi-trillion dollar country and you're going to give it to a 'social service' community organizer? Come on?

I don't like either choice, but since we have to pick one of the two, I'm going with a person who has more experience, somebody that doesn't want to raise our taxes, isn't talking about bringing in a ton of new special programs, who WANTS to win the war in Iraq (whether you believe in the war or not, we're there and I WANT TO WIN), and believes in the basics of human rights -- the right for a baby to be born, I'm going with McCain.

In terms of 'terrorist ties' -- I don't believe John McCain has ties to any terrorists, other than the fact he wants to destroy them. We're talking about the Democratic Presidential CANDIDATE's ties to a terrorist. Not some obscure politician nobody's ever heard of.

You can say what you will about Governor Palin -- she all by herself has more experience than Obma. Get you're head out of the sand and stop making excuses for your candidate who's nothing short of a Marxist.

Obama graduates from Harvard Law and, rather then cash out, he takes that knowledge and tries to give back to his community. You're right. Selflessness and a sense of social service would be horrible characteristics in a President.

Given the GOP's recent offerings, intelligence and a basic understanding of government are also things to be avoided.

Regarding "ties to terrorists", just keep pretending that some on the radical right don't have ties to the KKK and your argument might just hold water.

One last point: I every negative breath about the Sportscaster Sarah Palin can be characterized as "sexist", what could Obama's detractors be accused of?

Yes, Obama was actually 8 when the bombings took place. But, Ayers, in 2002, said he wished he had done more. While Obama was only 8 -- Ayers is still a confessed terrorist -- free only because of a technicality. Ayers has been an adviser of Obama. That shows me poor judgment. He also attend the church of a known racists.

In terms of McCain's relationship with Charles Keating -- After a lengthy investigation, the Senate Ethics Committee determined in 1991 that Alan Cranston, Dennis DeConcini, and Donald Riegle (all Democrats) had substantially and improperly interfered with the FHLBB in its investigation of Lincoln Savings. Senators John Glenn and John McCain were cleared of having acted improperly but were criticized for having exercised "poor judgment".

Those that determined Glenn and McCain exercised poor judgment were democrats.

It's pretty clear that the Democratic front-runner and the Republican #2 -- don't compare in terms of experience -- Palin has MUCH more -- and we're talking about the Republicans VP choice.

If you asked me, Obama's scared.

Lets put it this way; Obama was about 10 years old when Bill Ayers was participating in his alledged terrorist activities. Mccain was 52 when he was involved with the Keating 5 who Charles Keating was a master crook and good friend of Obama. If you look at it political candidates of both parties have associates that are not the most moral people, but I think the more each side picks at the other, neither side will ever accomplish their goals

Mulloverthis:

That's just not true. Obama has only been asked ONCE about his association with Ayers. No follow up questions. He basically said, he was 8 years old when it happened. That may be true, but Ayers is still wishing he had done more. If a republican had an association like that they'd be run out of town.

Hold on a minute -- to say Palin's executive experience is like a party planner is not only short-sighted it's idiotic. As Governor you're not only having to deal with budget issues and the state politics, but you're also having to deal with foreign business leaders. A community organizer doesn't do ANY of this. Palin's experience as a mayor also gives her insight into what local government leaders have to deal with every day. Again, Obama doesn't have this experience.

We're electing the next President of the United States -- a multi-trillion dollar country. To give that to someone with no experience is like handing over MicroSoft to a PTA President. Actually, a PTA president is an executive to some extent -- at least they have a budget to work with.

As a Christian, I'm not only happy she was nominated, I'm pleased that she's going to represent the conservative base -- which is the core of the Republican Party.

Although Obama has clearly been the beneficiary of media bias, he was definitely asked about a host of his past indiscretions, including his association w/Ayers, Wright, his drug use past, etc. Yes, Palin does have executive experience while Obama has none. But, to compare their experience as if Palin's is notable in the relative world of politics is ridiculous. That's like comparing someone who plans backyard ballon parties for 20 neighborhood kids every summer to a professional who runs a television station. The latter may not be a party planner and forget to order the marshmellows, but can function well in the give me a break party miniscule party planning world, whereas the backyard planner can't even figure out what a piece of equipment is used for in the tv studio. I am a Christian and appalled that Palin is the picture perfect model of a Conservative right wing politician. Read www.mulloverthis.wordpress.com for more. Thannks
